What Is Primer Paint?
Solvent Based Primer Paint is a type of primer generally used to prepare surfaces before painting. Primers are used to help smooth surfaces, coat non-absorbent surfaces, ensure paint adhesion and provide a base for topcoat paint.
Solvent-based primers refer to types of primers that use organic solvents (e.g. substances such as mineral spirits, thinners) as solvents. Such primers are often used in specific applications, such as oil-based paints, epoxy coatings or some metal substrates.
SOME ADVANTAGES OF SOLVENT-BASED PRIMERS
However, because solvent-based primers contain organic solvents, they can be odorous and may require working in a well-ventilated area during application. In addition, some solvent-based primers can be flammable and should therefore be stored and handled with care.
Before applying any paint or primer, it is important to carefully read the labels and instructions of the products to be used and take the necessary safety precautions.
